It occupies an enviable position between Swansea and Cardiff and stretches from the scenic valleys to our beautiful coastline – presenting easy access to urban centres as well as picturesque rural and coastal settings. With excellent schools, affordable housing and excellent public services, there is something for everyone here, and plenty to do all year round to support work/ life balance.

We have award winning social care and wellbeing services and some areas that need improvement and will enable you to make a real difference at a time of change. You can expect to join highly dedicated teams and work with skilled and committed managers to take forward our ambitious and exciting change programme. We are a reflective organisation that continuously builds on its strengths and is committed to the principle that the most effective way of improving outcomes for all Children, Young People and Families is through the provision of accessible, universal services. Join us and you will work in a rewarding, learning environment where staff feel valued.
We have recently restructured our teams to ensure a wider range of pathways for children who are care experienced. This has led to the creation of 4 smaller case management teams that are underpinned by a strengths-based approach within a collaborative and supportive environment. We are now recruiting a Deputy Team Manager for our Care Experienced Children’s Team. The team supports children and young people post care proceedings and up until the age of 16 years. The vision of the team is to support permanency for children and young people, and to ensure that intense support is provided in accordance with their care plans to achieve positive outcomes. The role of the Deputy Team Manager is to support the team and team manager with day to day operations in addition to deputising for the manager in times of absence.
Our targeted family support services are co-located within our locality teams, to provide a continuum of services ranging from early help to intensive provision to families with complex needs. They are based in three community hubs around the borough. We also have teams who offer expertise in relation to Children with Disabilities and Young People aged 16+ who are entitled to leaving care services.
In 2020 we launched our strengths and outcomes-based practice model which underpins all of our practice in Bridgend. To complement this we recently decided it was the right time for the Directorate to explore a systematic approach to supporting ‘safety and wellbeing’ of adults and children and are developing plans to implement the ‘Signs of Safety’ approach in Childrens Social Care. We are excited by the opportunities this will bring to revitalise working practices and further strengthen the multi agency approaches we take to safeguard children and young people.
You will find more details about the roles in the job description and what we are looking for from you in the person specification. In return we believe in ensuring staff are well looked after, staff wellbeing is a priority for us and regularly promoted, as are professional support and continuous professional development.
