Local government has never been so important and relevant, there is no area of our service that has not been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As such, the role of local government in shaping the future of local communities is more important than ever. So the timing could therefore not be better for us to launch our new graduate programme.
Set against a backdrop of new and far-reaching national planning policy, this graduate opportunity will enable you to contribute to the Council’s land use planning service including the emerging replacement Local Development Plan, determination of planning applications as well as working with associated functions such as Regeneration, Economic Development and Strategic transportation. You will benefit: through the learning opportunities and sharing of best practice; by being able to implement improvements across the council; by being part of an organisation that continues to evolve, improve and innovate; by learning how to make the best use of key products and services that can help transform the organisation’s capabilities
You will play a key role and as such will need to build rapport and trust with people quickly, be highly organised, self- motivated and committed to the approach. In return you will be supported to develop your skills and networks as we work together in delivering meaningful and sustainable change in a fast paced area of work.
The role will provide on-the-job training and support, a competitive salary, the option of joining the Council’s Pension Scheme, 24 days annual leave (in a full year) and the opportunity to access other benefits.
