There is a growing awareness of the impact Adverse Childhood Experiences have on young people and the need for trauma informed services and approaches which take into account all aspects of service delivery.
Trauma Informed approaches are well established in young people’s services. A Trauma Informed Behavioural Analytical model of working has been developed from Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Trauma Informed Practice. Behaviour Analysis is recognised nationally as a highly evidenced based therapy for working with staff and young people within trauma informed services.
Do you want the opportunity to be part of a team developing and implementing a new service model which is the first of its kind in Wales?
Are you motivated, and committed to making a real difference to the lives of young people who have experienced trauma in their childhoods?
If so, please read on as we want to hear from you……..
Bridgend County Borough Council has developed a new service in response to the need for additional support, therapeutic interventions and accommodation for young people (18+) with complex needs. The service will assist each individual on their transitional pathway towards developing emotional resilience, independent life and living skills.
The service will be tailored to the individual needs of the young person and will provide holistic, and structured programmes which incorporate all essential skills in need of development and trauma recovery support.
Partnership working will be essential to the success of this project and staff will play a key role in ensuring effective relationships are maintained with key stakeholders and partner agencies including Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis Unit, Children’s Services, Registered Social Landlord and other specialists when required.
Staff will receive bespoke, evidence based training and ongoing support in Applied Behavioural Analysis, Trauma informed approaches, Specialist Academic Intervention Teaching through Behavioural Analysis and Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS).
The service specifically aims to meet the needs of a minimum of four young people aged 18-21 who have complex needs and for whom ‘traditional’ models of support and housing options are not suitable. We will provide accommodation for up to four individuals and outreach support for an agreed period of time following move on.
Once the service model is established and embedded in practice, we aim broaden the service and work with young people from 16+ on their transitional pathway from regulated services to independent living
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
Applicants should note that a criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) will be necessary for the successful applicant.
