We are recruiting support staff to work in our Supported Living Services across the Borough of Bridgend. We are looking for enthusiastic, creative and flexible people who are committed to empowering people with a learning disability to be involved in choices and decisions about all aspects of their lives. You will have a sensitive attitude which portrays an understanding of the issues faced by people with a disability.
A positive and supportive approach is a requirement of the role as the successful candidate will need to support people in a person centred way with all areas of identified needs, i.e. physical, practical, emotional and vocational. This may include household and domestic tasks, shopping and food preparation, personal hygiene, social activities, offering guidance and advice to enable people to make informed decisions and exercise their rights.
The role will involve encouraging and assisting people to become integrated members of their local community by actively promoting physical and social presence in community based facilities, e.g. educational, occupational, and social and leisure
To support you in your role you will receive appropriate training, the opportunity to work within a team with support from colleagues, one to one supervision with your line manager, as well as regular team meetings.
For these posts, you will need to be flexible and will participate in shift work. As you are required to work weekends, nights when required and bank holidays you are entitled to the enhanced rate of time and a third for these hours. You will have sleeping in duties, (for which an additional allowance is paid). The hours will be arranged by the manager of the service and subject to the needs of people supported.
