Assistant Team Leader - Supported Living Services

The services support a diverse group of people with a range of needs such as Autism, complex behaviours, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, Dementia and complex health needs. Therefore experience and knowledge of working with a diverse group of individuals is an essential element of the roleAs an Assistant Team Leader you will support the Team Leaders with the ongoing development, monitoring and evaluation of services.
Duties and responsibilities include providing guidance and instruction to a group of operational staff, involving co-ordination of work, delegating tasks, resolving routine issues, role-modelling and observational practice, The role will support the Team Leader to develop services that promote an individualised, enabling model of support. You will need to contribute to, and implement positive risk management approaches and evidence that individuals have been supported to achieve desired outcomesGood communication and interpersonal skills are required as you may be a point of contact with Care Management, Health Professionals, generic services, families and carers and internal departments such as HR, Training and Finance A positive and supportive approach is a requirement of the role as you be required to work ‘hands-on’ and support people in a person centred way with all areas of identified needs, i.e. physical, practical and emotional. This may include household and domestic tasks, shopping and food preparation, personal hygiene, social activities, offering guidance and advice to enable service users to make informed decisions and exercise their rights.
To support you in your role you will receive appropriate training, the opportunity to work within a team with support from colleagues, one to one supervision with your line manager, as well as regular team meetings.
For these posts, you will need to be flexible and will participate in shift work, which includes weekends, night shifts if required and bank holidays, for which you will received an enhanced payment of a time and a third, you will also be required to undertake sleeping in duties, (for which an additional allowance is paid) you must also be prepared to drive individuals Motability vehicle. The hours will be arranged by the Team Leader of the service and subject to the demands of the service.Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
