Bridgend Foster Care is launching a new service; parent and child placements. This is a service aimed at enabling young families to remain together in their locality, accessing exisiting support networks within their familiar home county. The service will involve them working closely with the family in their own home in a support and advisory/guidance capacity for a very specific assessment period, usually 12 weeks but subject to review.
To support families to be assessed and to be provided with assistance and education in areas of identified need in all aspects of their parenting throughout their time in placement. Families will be enabled to evidence their ability to safely and successfully live as a family unit ultimately without the intervention of Local Authority Social Services.
The parent and child placement will be provided by experienced foster carers with the commitment and skills to assess, encourage and advise young families in all aspects of parenting and providing a family life, working openly and honestly with all associated services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self organising, committed member of staff to join our lively and busy team to commence processing enquiries, be involved in the recruiting of the parent and child carers; recognising we may have existing carers who wish to, and have the skills and experience to provide the service. Assess the carers, deliver assessing skills training to the carers, participating in skills to foster training and supervising the carers once approved. A primary function of the role will be to match, set up, oversee and review the placements whilst working closely with the assessment, safeguarding, family support teams, health colleagues and any other identified services.
