(ALL POSTS ARE AVAILABLE AS A PERMANENT POST, AS A TWO YEAR SECONDMENT OR FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
Salary will be payable at Soulbury 22-25 (GBP 57,453-GBP 60,333 plus 3 SPAs if applicable up to GBP 63,819) or for a seconded post current salary whichever is greater. Where a fixed-term appointment is made a daily rate can be considered.
The Central South Consortium, comprising the five Local Authorities of Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Vale of Glamorgan, is working in partnership to deliver ambitious arrangements for school improvement through the Central South Wales Challenge. Collectively with our schools, we are determined that all children and young people, in every school, will experience the best possible conditions in which to realise their potential and that we close the gap between the most disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
Over the next three to five years we will continue to create the conditions that enable schools' leaders to play a vital part in driving improvement. Sector-led school-to-school support is playing a crucial role in building capacity in the system as a whole to improve. Significant cultural change is being embraced by all parts of the system in order to develop the capacity, confidence and behaviours to lead improvement. Together with headteachers we are making good progress towards achieving these goals.
We are now seeking to recruit highly successful professionals to join our enthusiastic and committed team.
The successful candidates will fulfil the role of senior challenge adviser/ lead school improvement officer with a specific remit to oversee the provision of support and challenge to schools. In Merthyr and the Vale of Glamorgan this will involve responsibility for school improvement in all schools. In Cardiff this will involve responsibility for school improvement in the secondary sector only. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for coordinating strategy for improvement and intervention in the secondary sector across the region as a whole, working closely will all other senior challenge advisers/ lead school improvement officers.
As a senior challenge adviser/ lead school improvement officer you will:* lead the provision of the school improvement service in the local authority to which you are attached; * support the local authority in exercising its accountability for school improvement; * work closely with the local authority's senior officers to ensure that schools have access to appropriate support to meet the full spectrum of their needs; * develop a secure knowledge of the performance of the schools in the local authority, the local authority's context and priorities; * lead, oversee and quality assure the work of challenge advisers as they provide constructive challenge and support to schools' leaders and governing bodies;* promote access to innovative practice and sharing of effective practice between schools to act as a catalyst to securing better outcomes for all learners.
