37 hours per week
Sunny Bank provides four placements of varying lengths up to a period of 12 months to children/young people of either sex who (for whatever reason) cannot live with their own immediate or extended family. It is best able to provide placements for those who are particularly vulnerable and present complex needs; it aims to work with the children/young people through an intensive approach which could include therapeutic intervention and behaviour modification.
As a Senior Residential Worker you will support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the unit and will be assisting in the co-ordination and management of the residential workers to ensure that children and young people's needs are met in accordance with their individual plans. You will be working as part of a team and in a supervisory role, you will be involved in providing all aspects of care both on an individual and group basis, you will also be expected to undertake office work duties.
You must be able to show a commitment to and experience of working with young people, and an ability to work as part of a team and be able to relate well to children and their families as well as other professionals. Ideally you will hold a relevant qualification QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social care (Children & Young People) Wales or equivalent NVQ 4 Health & Social Care children and young people. Have at least 3 years' experience of working with children and their families. You need to be supportive, approachable and committed and have good team management skills.
As the post is residential based, you will be required to undertake some weekend working, for these hours you will recive an enhanced payment of a time and third, and carry out sleeping in duties for which you will recive a payment for.
Due to the nature of this post the Care and Social Services Inspectorate of Wales recommends that employees are 4 years older than the oldest resident. Therefore, applicants must be 22 years of age or older.
