Bridgend CBC has a strong drive to achieve the best outcomes for it's Looked After Childrens population and where ever possible preventing children from becoming LAC or enabling children to leave the looked after system. As part of achieving this goal BCBC has established a Permanence Service (previously located within the Adoption service) due to internal promotion an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Work Practitioner to join the Service. Experience of working with children, their carers and families will be essential and you will be committed to working in partnership to provide quality services.
The post requires the post-holder to manage a caseload and to actively engage in the provision of a range of Permanence Support Services including direct work with children and young people. The post holder will also take an active lead in progressing plans for permanence through the achievement of Special Guardianship Orders, Child Arrangements Orders and in some cases by discharging Care Orders that are no longer required to safeguard the child or young person. You will also be expected to undertake reviews of support needs for the placements, assist in the development and provision of a range of support services.
You will need to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, a flexible approach to your work and a commitment to team working. A recognised social work qualification, and registration with the Care Council for Wales is essential.
