Our Disabled Children's Team is a frontline assessment, case management team which specialises in providing support and services to disabled children and young people across the County Borough of Bridgend. This includes children who are looked after.
This allows us to respond to children and families with complex needs or where there are early child protection concerns. It also allows for the provision of high quality support and intervention for those with longer term needs.
We've listened to our service users and our staff to learn what makes our services better for all.
An opportunity has arisen for a Social Work Assistant to join the Disabled Children's Team on a temporary basis (12 months), and to gain valuable experience within a busy, motivated and supportive Specialist Social Worker Team. Experience of working with children, their carers and families will be essential and you will be committed to working in partnership to provide quality services.
The post requires the post-holder to manage a caseload and to actively engage in the provision of a range of family support services, including direct work with children and young people. You will also be expected to undertake Child in Need reviews and to support colleagues within the Disabled Children's team with complex cases and undertake specific case-related tasks. You will need to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, a flexible approach to your work and a commitment to team working.
Applicants should note that a criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) will be necessary for the successful applicant.
