Bakers Way residential short breaks service in Bridgend provides short term care for disabled children and young people aged from birth - 18 years.
Working as part of a team providing all aspects of care on an individual and group basis, you will be responsible for implementing individual care plans by being involved in helping disabled children/ young people with their personal care and emotional needs. You will also be responsible for the domestic tasks and ensuring that Health & Safety practices are adhered to within the home environment.
You should demonstrate a commitment to, and experience of working with children and young people; an ability to work as part of a team, and be able to relate well to children/ young people and their families as well as other professionals. Ideally you will have experience of working with, and / or an understanding of the needs of disabled children/ young people.
You will be required to participate in shift work, which includes weekends, and if required bank holidays. You will be paid an enhanced rate of time and a third for these hours. You will be required, on occasions, to carry out sleeping in duties, which you will receive an additional payment for. We are looking for commitment and flexibility.
In order to comply with Regulatory requirments of The Care Standards Act, you will hold a relevant qualification, or you will demonstrate a commitment to undertaking a QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
The Care Standards Regulations require residential care staff to be 4 years older than the eldest resident. Therefore, applicants must be 22 years of age or older.
Applicant should note that an Enhanced Disclosure Check by the Criminal Records Bureau will be necessary for the successful applicants.
