The Central South Consortium, comprising the five Local Authorities of Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Vale of Glamorgan, is working in partnership to deliver ambitious arrangements for school improvement through the Central South Wales Challenge. Collectively with our schools, we are determined that all children and young people, in every school, will experience the best possible conditions in which to realise their potential and that we close the gap between the most disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
We have made good progress in creating the conditions that enable schools' leaders to play a vital part in driving improvement. Sector-led school-to-school support in pivotal in our region in building capacity in the system as a whole to improve. This involves significant cultural change in all parts of the system in order to continue to build the capacity, confidence and behaviours to lead improvement. Together with headteachers we are already making good progress towards achieving these goals.
We are seeking to appoint to the permanent post of Strategic Advisor - Learning and Teaching for the Central South Consortium based at Ty Dysgu. We welcome seconded or permanent applicants.
This post will be required to work with challenge advisers, schools and local authorities to ensure that the Central South region becomes an outstanding place for teaching, school leadership and pupils' achievement, whilst supporting the development of school-led school to school working.
This post will have oversight and responsibility for the development of excellent teaching and learning through the identification of strong practice, the use of our networks, school improvement groups and hubs and for the construction of differentiated and tailored support programmes to meet the needs of all schools whilst ensuring that these are available swiftly and effectively to meet schools' needs.
Applications are welcome from candidates who are qualified teachers, of undertaking action research in an aspect of pedagogy and who have experience of leading the provision of successful support and intervention strategies in a school or education organisation that address teaching and learning. Candidates must also be aware of national, CSC, local authority and school priorities and what these imply for developing the workforce in schools at all levels.
